Bryan Harsin and his new coaching staff are going far beyond the class of 2021 when it comes to recruiting for Auburn football. Already, the coaches are looking to 2022–and 2023 even–but they aren’t taking any of the work that former HC Gus Malzahn and his staff put in for granted.

Just this morning, the #1 running back in the nation for the class of 2023 announced that he received a re-offer from the new coaching staff at Auburn University. Richard Young, a four-star prospect from Lehigh Acres, FL is also the 18th-ranked overall athlete in the class of ’23 and is the No. 4 recruit out of Florida.

Young recorded 854 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in the 2019 season according to 247Sports. He also runs track, clearing 100 meters in 11.09 seconds.

The speedy back was named MaxPreps Freshman All-American in 2019, MaxPreps Preseason Sophomore All-American in 2020, and was invited to the Under Armour All-America camp series in March of 2021.

While the offers are surely going to keep filling up the for Richard Young, Auburn has the advantage of teammate of his signing on with the Tigers. Tar’varish Dawson is Plains-bound in 2021.

Dawson, a four-star cornerback out of Lehigh, committed to Auburn football when Gus Malzahn still held the head coaching position. After speaking with Bryan Harsin, he stuck with Auburn and officially signed on February 3.

Dawson and Young combined for five touchdowns in October of 2020 and led their team to a blowout 40-0 victory over Riverdale, per NewsPress.com. Does the commitment of Dawson to Auburn push Young in the direction of The Plains?

We hope so. Young has already received over two dozen offers…with ten SEC schools in the mix. If Dawson finds success with Auburn football, it may inspire Richard Young to follow in his footsteps. Based on what the pair did on the field for Lehigh, it would be special seeing them reunite in orange and blue.

Next. Harsin, Malzahn, and every HC change in 2020. dark
