Cam Newton is not here for the disrespect.
After hearing a kid yell at him that he’s “washed”, Newton retorted by saying “I’m rich”. The kid continued to chastise Newton, taking aim at his NFL free agent status.
Finally, the video ends with Newton asking him where his father is as the kid continues to attack the 2010 Heisman winner.
Per Overtime:
Kid was really saying this at CAM NEWTON’S own camp 😳 (h/t thesportsuniverse/TikTok) pic.twitter.com/YjQjc53tNZ

Needless to say, seeing a renowned former collegiate champion with the Auburn Tigers and a former NFL MVP get treated in such a discourteous manner brought Newton’s fellow pros to his defense:
Man I wish I had NFL players at my 7 on 7. Let alone a player as elite as Cam Newton. Reality check, You got a guy who has reached every mile stone that we dreamed of as kids. You supposed to be picking his brain, being a sponge. Not a annoying fly that caused no damage to him https://t.co/b1gENqCCPr

Cam you should have sent his ass home https://t.co/SJkUMUMnl5

Newton’s NFL colleagues wish they could have had the presence of greatness during their own come-ups, and Dez Bryant even believes that kid should have had his privileges of being at the NFA 7v7 East Regional revoked.
NFLers weren’t the only pro athletes to chime in on the situation, with current and retired NBA players giving their two cents as well:
Probably should ask him how to be a MVP in the league you probably wanna play in first.. 😂🤦🏽♂️ Smh https://t.co/QHj0hYgw1X

I wish my children would disrespect any adult like that! I’m from the old school where this type of behavior is not tolerated! Real Talk. https://t.co/s6mmH3STfd

Newton had a so-so year for the New England Patriots after spending his first eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He is currently a free agent, and he has recently been linked to the Washington Football Team.
Fly War Eagle will monitor Newton’s free agency, and keep you updated on this situation as well.
All we know is that Cam Newton deserves better than this.
