The recruiting arms race between UCF and Auburn football entered its second leg when Treyaun Webb announced this morning that he was re-offered by Bryan Harsin and the new Tigers coaching staff. The four-star recruit is listed as ATH on 247 Sports, denoting his multi-positional versatility that could fit many different roles on the team.

According to 247 Sports, Webb’s initial Auburn offer came on May 29, 2020, from Gus Malzahn’s coaching staff after he committed to Georgia. He since de-committed from UGA and listed his top six schools in a Twitter post on January 9.

The schools on Webb’s list are Georgia, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Penn State. However, since the top six were declared, Webb received a new offer from a familiar face with an invitation to play for Gus Malzahn at his new gig at the University of Central Florida.

Webb tagged Knights Defensive Coordinator Travis Williams, another familiar former Auburn football coach, in his Twitter post, meaning Webb was recruited by the same staff at two different schools. But Bryan Harsin was quick to respond and days after the UCF offer, Webb was in contact with the new Auburn coaching staff.

The Jacksonville, FL native tagged Auburn running backs coach Cadillac Williams in his re-offer announcement, indicating that the Tigers are looking to place Webb on the offense as a running back. Webb ran track in high school, covering 100 meters in a quick 11.26 seconds so hopefully, that will translate to 100 yards on the football field.

It’s possible that these new offers impact Webb’s top six, and Bryan Harsin has demonstrated that he won’t let go of Auburn prospects so easily. Does this open the door for UCF to extend offers to other Auburn targets simply because they’re already familiar with Gus Malzahn?
