As the future comes into focus for Auburn football, the 2022 recruiting class is one that is getting plenty of attention on the Plains. Bryan Harsin and his newly hired support staff have been busy adding recruits for the next two seasons, and his work for the roster he’ll be coaching in his second season is starting to add premier talent.

Holden Geriner, originally a 3-star, has added a fourth star ahead of his senior season. Auburn landed Geriner after Gunner Stockton announced his decision to take his talents to Athens, Georgia to revive a Bulldogs program that can’t seem to get over the hump to win a National Championship.

Dylan Brooks was a late-February addition to the class of 2022, and the presence of the four-star linebacker from Roanoke, Alabama will be a feared commodity when he finally makes his way south to Auburn.

Perhaps he will have some fearsome company. Jalon Walker, a six-foot-two, 220-pound linebacker from Salisbury, North Carolina, announced on Twitter earlier today that he would be announcing his commitment on March 28th…and Auburn is an option:

Auburn football was one of six schools announced by the Salisbury High School stud alongside Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, North Carolina, and Clemson.

To denote the Auburn football program, Walker used an eagle emoji with Clemson already bearing the Tiger name.

One would have to think that UNC has the natural advantage of being located just an hour and a half away from Walker’s home in Salisbury. The Tar Heels made massive strides forward in 2021, landing in a New Year’s Six Bowl (Orange Bowl).

Clemson is also under three hours away from Walker, and the other Tigers are projected to be a College Football Playoff team once again by many pundits.

Alabama has the shine of being the defending champions, Ohio State similarly can tote a National Championship game appearance, and Georgia has the allure of an elite quarterback making his way to UGA.

Wherever he decides, it is good to know that Auburn football can still be considered by a top recruit after a 6-5 season, a tumultuous coaching change, and the installation of a new program amid a global pandemic.
