Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin and his support staff have made another big offer for the recruiting class of 2022. Alex VanSumeran, a native of Essexville, Michigan, tweeted out his Auburn offer this morning.

The 4-star defensive lineman already has multiple offers from Power 5 schools such as Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State. He’s in the ESPN Top 300 and holds the #172 spot in the Rivals 250, and was also named to the Detroit News Dream Team 2020.

VanSumeran was originally committed to Michigan–where his brother Ben VanSumeran played for three seasons. However, in February Ben VanSumeran announced that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal, and on the same day, Alex de-committed from Michigan, per Mlive.com.

Quickly after that announcement, Ben VanSumeran committed to Michigan State, but his younger brother has yet to decide where he will begin his college career. But according to Rivals.com, it’s not so certain that Alex VanSumeran will stay in his home state:

"After emerging on the recruiting scene early in his high school career, VanSumeren has continued to evolve and develop his game, proving to be one of the 2022 class’ hardest workers. He brings a combination of strength, quickness, agility and work ethic to a position that schools, especially Midwest schools, struggle to recruit effectively."

Per Badgers Wire, Alex VanSumeran recorded 63 tackles in the 2020 season with 19 tackles for loss and eight sacks. 247Sports lists 19 other defensive tackles who have received offers for the 2022 class, but there have been no hard commits.

VanSumeran is a rising star, and he would be a huge get for the Auburn football program.
