2021 is set to be an exciting year for the Auburn football program, but 2022 could be an even more compelling campaign on the Plains.
Bryan Harsin and his staff have been hard on the recruiting trail, landing top recruits on both sides of the football. Holden Geriner is the team’s marquee offensive signing, while Dylan Brooks is set to anchor a defensive line that figures to be just as fearsome as Kevin Steele’s vaunted front sevens of the past few seasons.
Apparently, there could another key skill position addition for Harsin’s second-year squad.
According to JBoy and a panel of Auburn football experts, the Tigers could soon add six-foot, 195-pound running back Quinshon Judkins as their next commitment:
The Tigers had completion for the elite rusher from Pike Road, Alabama, as my co-editor Mary Kate Hughes relayed yesterday in a piece assessing three different 2022 options:
"Quinshon Judkins holds more than 20 offers so far from schools including Florida, Michigan, Miami, and–interestingly enough–UCF, whose offer came after Gus Malzahn’s arrival. Judkins’ Auburn offer originally came from Malzahn’s staff, but he was quickly re-offered by Coach Williams under Bryan Harsin.Judkins finished the 2020 season with 150 carries for 1,482 yards and 25 touchdowns, and he also caught six passes for 137 yards."
Judkins would join a backfield that already includes Tank Bigsby, who is seen as the top returning sophomore running back and someone that may garner Heisman consideration this season. As for who could be under center, Bo Nix is likely to retain the job this season but could be pushed by four-star 2021 recruit Dematrius Davis out of Texas.
Either way, Fly War Eagle hopes Auburn football can successfully onboard the local product and continue to get production from their backfield.
