If you are an Auburn basketball fan, you remember the 2018-2019 season, and not just because it happened a few years ago. The legendary Final Four run feels like it happened just yesterday, and the bitter taste in your mouth never quite goes away if you get to thinking about it too hard.

Of course, there was no 2019-2020 Final Four because there was no NCAA Tournament played at all last year due to the Coronavirus, so it’s been many a day since that fateful day where Ty Jerome double dribbled at U.S. Bank Stadium.

728 days, to be exact, and we only know that because Bleacher Report and the NCAA were kind enough to point it out to us, using a really fun and awesome throwback picture:

They might as well just have tagged the Auburn Family in the post next to March Madness because we all saw it. And it still feels just as awful as it did on that day when I was in U.S. Bank Arena watching it unfold in real-time.

I’m not the only Auburn basketball fan that thinks this, of course. Fans came out in the Bleacher Report comments, reacting to the friendly reminder that Auburn lost to Virginia in the last Final Four:

Although we’ll always look back and cherish the memories of the season and be proud of what our Auburn basketball team accomplished that year, we’re also not going to forget that they were robbed of a title game appearance.

With transfer targets coming in as well as two signees on the 2021 roster, Bruce Pearl is going to make sure that the next Final Four includes Auburn.
