Auburn football is looking to add speed and skills to the 2022 roster with this three-star defensive back. Emory Floyd, a native of Powder Springs, GA, has set an official visit to the Plains on June 4. According to Floyd’s Twitter, he has also set an official visit to Maryland for June 11-13, though popular recruiting websites such as Rivals and 247 have not listed that visit on his profiles.
Floyd has shown interest in other schools such as Florida and Notre Dame, and he is being heavily recruited by Kirby Smart and the coaching staff at UGA Football. The Georgia native is “an elite sprinter” according to his scouting report on 247 Sports, and plans to continue running track in college as well as playing football. He covers 100 meters in just 10.51 seconds and 200 meters in 21.18 seconds.
Though his Crystal Ball prediction on 247 Sports points to a Georgia commitment from the safety, Floyd has set his decision date for May 7, and so far has just one official visit on his schedule: Auburn. Could this mean that the Tigers have turned Floyd away from the Bulldogs?
According to Dawg Nation, Floyd is looking to commit to a school that feels like home to him. He wants to consider all aspects of the school, not just the football program:
"“Most of all family,” he said. “Not just about only football but where it can take me in life. I want that football to take me to be a better man. Whatever feels like ‘homey’ to me, I’ll go there.”"
Emory Floyd is listed as the No. 48 recruit out of the state of Georgia, and the No. 32 safety in the nation. He was one of several Auburn football targets to show out at the Atlanta Under-Armour All-American camp in March, exceeding expectations and showing off his incredible speed.
The Tigers will have tight competition with UGA in the recruitment of Floyd, but the DB is a huge target for Bryan Harsin and his staff for the 2022 roster.
