It was a picturesque scene at Toomer’s Corner on Sunday afternoon following Auburn women’s golf’s SEC Championship victory.
The trees were rolled by not only the ladies of the links and the locals on the Plains, but also a few high-profile celebrity guests.
On hand Sunday afternoon on the corner of S College St and E Magnolia Ave were both Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin and Auburn women’s basketball coach Johnnie Harris.
The Auburn women’s golf team was in good company as they celebrated their 10th SEC Championship in school history:
Fly War Eagle was on hand for the festivities, the first time in almost a decade the teed up Lady Tigers were out and about in downtown Auburn celebrating a conference championship. For Harsin, Harris, and myself, this was the first of many rolling of the trees on the Plains.
Besides the high profile well wishes of two of Auburn athletics’ most prominent programs, Auburn women’s golf received quite the high profile congratulations from pro golfer–and former Tiger golfer–Blayne Barber:
Barber is Auburn golf royalty, having been named to the All-SEC conference team twice in his days playing for the Auburn men’s golf program. Before transferring to AU, Barber was a 2x All-American at UCF, bridging the gap between the two schools long before Gus Malzahn and Travis Williams headed east to Orlando and the Sunshine State.
Barber is winless in his PGA playoff career, but owns a 2014 Web.com Tour win.
You could leave the Plains, but the Plains will never leave you, and Barber proved that with his Tiger pride towards the Auburn women’s golf SEC Championship win.
War Eagle!
