Auburn baseball had a successful week on the Plains, and boy did they need it. After a succession of losses and getting beat by just one point multiple times in the last series against rival Alabama, the Tigers got a momentum boost with wins against Samford and Jacksonville State this past week.

Auburn faced the Samford Bulldogs on Tuesday, racking up six runs by the third inning and never allowing the Bulldogs to catch up, beating them 6-4. Pitcher Cody Greenhill recorded the 20th save of his career with a quick three outs ending in a strikeout to finish off the game.

Carson Skipper, Carson Swilling, and Peyton Glavine were the other three Auburn pitchers, and they held Samford to just three hits and one run. Tyler Miller hit his eleventh home run of the season, a team best, and drove in multiple runs along with Rankin Woley.

The very next day the Tigers faced off against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, and they battled to the very end to get the W. Tyler Miller hit a walk-off home run in the 10th inning to push the Tigers past the Gamecocks by just one point, 8-7. It marks Auburn baseball’s second walk-off win this season.

Mason Barnett pitched one inning as the starter, followed by Joseph Gonzalez who held the Gamecocks to zero runs in his 3.1 innings, and Cam Hill ultimately pitched a scoreless tenth inning to earn his second win of the season.

Judd Ward’s batting kicked off the Auburn offense in the second half of the game with an RBI triple. Rankin Woley hit his second home run in as many days and Ryan Bliss hit an RBI double on two outs to give Auburn the lead late in the game.

The Tigers will next face off against the No. 14 Florida Gators in a three-game series at Plainsman Park this weekend.
