The 2021 roster for Auburn baseball is getting a new addition in the form of Chattahoochee Valley Community College infielder Mason Land. The Florida native is currently playing his first season for CVCC after spending a year in Starkville, Mississippi. Land originally signed with the Mississippi State Bulldogs out of high school and played three games with one start in his freshman season.

In his first season at Chattahoochee Valley, the left-handed hitter racked up five home runs, 35 RBIs, and only 10 strikeouts. He’s batting at .353 with seven doubles and one triple on the #14 ranked team in the country, according to Prep Baseball Report.

Land told AuburnTigers.com that Auburn baseball is the perfect fit for him and he’s excited to get on the campus:

"“What stood out the most to me about Auburn was that it was exactly what I was looking for,” Land said. “Auburn is a beautiful campus with a well-known baseball program. I was looking to get back into the SEC after being in junior college for a year, and Auburn is the perfect fit.“I’m extremely excited to get on campus and learn and develop under the coaching staff,” Land added. “I feel like different programs teach baseball in different ways, and I’m excited to learn more about the game from different perspectives.”"

Tiger fans can expect to see the incoming transfer making an impact early on next season with the anticipation of Tyler Miller, Rankin Woley, and Ryan Bliss going to the pros after this year. Hopefully, Mason Land can bring in some SEC playing experience and step up the infield for a team that has been struggling a little this season.

Coming off a week where the Tigers went 3-2 against Samford, Jacksonville State, and Florida, they’ll next be heading to Athens, Georgia to face the UGA Bulldogs on the road.
