Auburn basketball: Bruce Pearl…Austin Powers impressionist?
Yeah baby, yeah. -…Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl?
Apparently, Pearl has a groovy impression of Mike Myers’ famed caricature of a time-traveling hedonistic British spy in one of the 1990’s greatest cinematic exports to the annals of time.
His daughter, Jacqui Pearl, revealed as much in one of Monday’s more notable moments.
Per her Twitter:
Not only can Pearl impersonate the shagadelic international man of mystery, but apparently, he can do every single Myers’-themed character.
That includes, of course, Powers’ brother Dr. Evil, as well. Is the image of Pearl winning a national championship and putting his pinky to his lip as a shot the NCAA now burned into anyone else’s brain? Just me?
That also includes Goldmember, who famously said he was tight like a Tiger. So that’s what that means…
Another character too crude for this blog is also included. A certain flatulence-obsessed sumo wrestler who loves corn.
Pearl’s clearly a multi-talented man who knows the x’s and o’s as well as how to tickle the funny bone. Being able to pull off several different accents while also engineering one of the most improbable Final Four runs ever reveals plenty of talent from the top voice in the Auburn basketball locker-room.
Pearl has been known to have fun with his players from his on-court boogying to his (alleged) off-court cookouts, and you have to imagine that Final Four run was riddled with Austin Powers impressions.
You’d also have to hope the 2020-21 Tigers heard it too. It was a tough season in many different ways, but seeing Pearl whip out his more hidden talents is–I’d have to imagine–a major mood booster.
Fly War Eagle is hopeful Pearl’s impression is brought up at a future Auburn basketball press conference.
The Jungle needs it.
