As soon as Auburn football extended an offer to UAB grad transfer Tony Fair, Shaun Shivers made it clear he wanted the DT to make the move to the Plains, and now it looks as though the standout running back might get his way.

After officially entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on May 3, Fair announced his top three schools–Auburn, Purdue, and Ole Miss–five days later on May 8. The defensive tackle received offers from Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan, as well, according to his Twitter page.

Just this morning, Fair announced that after taking a few days to clear his head he will be announcing his decision tomorrow, May 12. According to Fly War Eagle co-expert Andrew Hughes, Auburn football is the best landing spot for Fair:

"Fair has a very similar build to Tyrone Truesdell, and his similar stat line means there could be a legitimate camp battle to determine the starting NT in Mason’s defense. Staying in-state just a few hours southeast would make for an easy transition from Birmingham."

The No. 6 defensive tackle in his class, Fair began his career at Indiana State where he played for a year before transferring to Pima Community College, where he played from 2017-2018. In two seasons for the UAB Blazers, Fair amassed 56 tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, and three forced fumbles.

Auburn may have the upper hand in this battle, seeing as key members of the defense have been entering the transfer portal as of late, creating an opportunity for the experienced Fair. Tomorrow, we’ll know for sure if Fair is making the transition from Blazer to Tiger.
