Defensive back is a definite area of need for the Auburn football team moving forward, so it’s great news that 3-star DB Emory Floyd is predicted to commit to the Tigers in the recruiting class of 2022. The Powder Springs, GA native has been heavily recruited by Power 5 schools and recently named eight finalists in the decision-making process.

Floyd will ultimately choose between Auburn, Maryland, South Carolina, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida, North Carolina, and Florida State. So far, he has officially scheduled visits to Auburn and Maryland, but more visits could be added to his itinerary.

Once upon a time, the Georgia native was sure he would be attending UGA, but in early April Floyd declared that the Tigers had moved to his No. 1 spot, according to Auburn Rivals. Though he doesn’t plan to commit until after his official visits this summer, Harsin and the Tigers are clearly in a good position with the DB.

Good enough that 100% of experts from 247Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions think Floyd will end up on the Plains. The JBoyShow chimed in with their Auburn prediction as well with a confidence factor of 90%.

According to Auburn Undercover, Floyd’s fondness for the Plains grew after his visit on A-Day, and if his official visit in June goes well the Tigers may have the DB on lock. Floyd has also grown close with defensive coordinator Derek Mason, and the Tigers are pushing hard for him.

Though he plays the safety position for Hillgrove High, Floyd is being recruited as a corner for the Tigers. If he were to commit, Floyd would join Holden Geriner, Jarell Stinson, and Powell Gordon in the class of 2022.

An official announcement won’t come from Floyd at least until after he has his official visit with Auburn football, so until then we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the top target.
