Auburn basketball: Tigers host UL-Monroe for early season tune-up
Auburn basketball will have an early-season tune-up against UL-Monroe of the Sunbelt on November 12th at the Auburn Arena.
The Warhawks from Northern Louisiana possess one of the best team names from the Sunbelt, but their record from a year ago was the worst, and their 2021 class is bereft of a single baller.
Bruce Pearl’s Tigers handled the Sunbelt in their past three matchups against the conference this past season, picking up a nine-point win over South Alabama and pulverizing Troy and Appalachian State by a 50-point margin in two non-conference routes.
John Rothstein had the scoop, via his verified Twitter page:
That will be one of the first games of the season at the Auburn Arena, and if Zep Jasper is to be believed–and I truly don’t see why he wouldn’t be considering the thirst for the Jungle to return in full force this year–it’s going to be a loud one:
More and more non-conference contests are being announced for the coming season after several matchups against G5 and mid-major schools have been announced already. A trip to sunny and beautiful Tampa has been scheduled, as well as a trek to the Gateway City against the Saint Louis Billikens.
A home matchup against North Alabama has also been announced (side-note, the Tigers’ last baseball game at Plainsman Park this season will also be against the Lions tonight).
While UL-Monroe features plenty of upperclassmen, they lost perhaps their most lethal weapon in Long Beach, NY product Josh Nicholas to the transfer portal.
This should be an easy tune-up for Auburn basketball to pad their record before entering the SEC snake pit.
