Auburn football: Holden Geriner changes official visit date
The Auburn football team’s June is already crazy hectic, so there are bound to be adjustments in the schedule as time moves forward. One major change that has surfaced already pertains to the official visit of class of 2022 Auburn quarterback commit Holden Geriner.
Although he was originally scheduled to officially visit the Plains on the weekend of June 11-13, Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Undercover reports that Geriner will now take his official visit during a game weekend this fall. Geriner still plans to unofficially visit campus on the 11th, and could potentially make his way to the Plains on other dates as well.
There are no limits on the number of unofficial visits Geriner takes, but in accordance with NCAA rules, he can take only one official visit per school. As of now, Geriner is a hard commit in the Tigers’ recruiting class of 2022 and has no other official visits scheduled.
Geriner continues to be head coach Bryan Harsin’s #1 student-athlete recruiter, chiming in on athletes’ Twitter posts to campaign for the Tigers. He appears to be fully on board with the new vision of the Auburn football team under Coach Harsin, and he’s all about bringing others in. According to Auburn Undercover, Geriner’s bond with the coaching staff has only grown since he signed with the team back in February:
"“We have a great relationship,” Geriner said. “We talk almost every single day. … He’s just ready to work and we’re both super excited. It’s going to be great.”"
Holden Geriner is currently ranked as the No. 18 quarterback in the nation, as well as the No. 23 recruit out of the state of Georgia. In 2020, he completed 179 out of 264 pass attempts and threw for 2,770 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also amassed 117 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He is one of three commits in Auburn football’s class of 2022 so far.
