One of the top running back targets for Auburn football released his Top-10 schools today on Twitter and the Tigers found themselves squarely in the race for 4-star running back Trevor Etienne.

Etienne is a 4-star running back out of Jenning, LA and ranks as the #155 overall player and #12 running back in the 2022 recruiting class. As a sophomore, Etienne rushed for over 2300 yards and 31 TDs as he led Jennings High School to the 3A State Championship for the state of Louisiana. He followed that up with a strong junior campaign, in which he was an All-State selection at running back with over 1200 rushing yards and 22 TDs.

If the name sounds familiar, then it is most likely due to the success of Etienne’s older brother Travis. The older Etienne was drafted #25 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft and left a huge legacy at Clemson, finishing as the ACC career record-holder for rushing yards (4,952), total TDs (78), rushing TDs (70), and total points (468).

Auburn’s running back room was one in dire condition when Bryan Harsin stepped into the head coach role for the Tigers. Harsin landed Central Michigan transfer Jordon Ingram and also landed a late commitment from Jarquez Hunter, which added much-needed depth to a room with only two scholarship players going into spring practices.

Tank Bigsby and Shaun Shivers will be the face of the position this season, but many expect both players to be headed to the NFL in two seasons, which leaves a void for the future. Harsin is expected to try and land at least two impact players at running back and could even see a third added before the recruiting cycle winds down.

Auburn football will have to fight off some of the biggest schools from around the country for the talented running back out of Louisiana. Alabama and LSU have been the two SEC schools pursuing Etienne the most, but do not count out Clemson who may have the inside advantage for the younger Etienne.

Auburn Football has a history of turning out NFL running backs and will be looking to get Etienne on campus as soon as possible. Could Etienne be the next great Auburn football running back? Only time will tell, but Carnell Williams and Bryan Harsin have Auburn in the mix for one of the best running backs in the country.
