The offensive line is going to be one of the top needs in the 2022 class for the Auburn football program and a new target may have emerged for the Tigers. New offensive line coach Will Friend has officially offered Drew Bobo, who happens to be the son of new offensive coordinator, Mike Bobo.

Drew Bobo is a 3-star prospect out of Columbia, SC, and ranks as the #587 overall player and the #54 OT in the class of 2022. Bobo will transfer to Auburn High School this season, where he will play offensive tackle alongside Auburn commit, linebacker Powell Gordon.

Bobo is listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds right now and projects as a guard at the next level. He announced his offer from Bryan Harsin and Will Friend on Twitter:

Bobo holds offers and has generated interest from some of the top programs around the country, but recently told 247Sports that he does not have a clear favorite in his recruitment right now. Bobo has three official visits scheduled so far: Georgia Tech on June 11th, Virginia on June 18th, and wrapping up with Kentucky on June 25th.

When Bryan Harsin stepped into his role as Auburn football’s head coach, he knew that rebuilding the offensive line was going to be the biggest challenge in his first few years at Auburn. From 2017 until this past class, the Tigers only recruited 14 total offensive linemen while Alabama recruited over 22 offensive linemen in that same period.

Harsin finalized this past recruiting class with two offensive linemen in the class, one being Garner Langlo out of Trinity Catholic High School and the other being Colby Smith out of North Carolina. Auburn football has some talented prospects on their big board for the offensive line, which is headlined by Riley Quick out of Hewitt-Trussville, Eston Harris Jr. out of Opelika, and Qae’shon Sapp out of Leesburg, GA, who has visited the Plains multiple times since the dead period has ended.

It has become clear that Mike Bobo will play a minimal role in the recruitment of Drew Bobo. He is going to make the best decision for himself, but luckily Auburn has a huge need for a talent such as Bobo right now. This recruitment could be interesting to watch, but currently, the Auburn Tigers are in a good place.
