Auburn Football makes Top-5 for highly touted 3-star OT Jacob Hood
Bryan Harsin and Will Friend know that offensive line is a major need in the 2022 recruiting cycle. One of the top targets for Auburn football officially announced his Top-5 schools today on Twitter and the Tigers found themselves in the final five for Jacob Hood.
Jacob Hood is a 3-star prospect out of Nashville, TN, and ranks as the #423 overall player and #41 offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class. He stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 342 pounds as he enters his senior year at Hillsboro High School.
Auburn football will have to compete with Ole Miss, Georgia, Miami, & Mississippi State for the talented offensive tackle. Hood visited the Plains last weekend for his first official visit and will head to Athens, GA this weekend to give the Bulldogs and Kirby Smart a look. He also has an official visit scheduled for Miami on June 25th, while there is no word on when Hood will head to Starkville to visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
According to Keith Niebuhr for 247Sports, Hood had this to say after his visit to Auburn:
"“Auburn’s always been in my top list, and I say this definitely pushes them to the top three of my top list. I’m definitely going to come back, take an unofficial (visit) during the season and see how they play on game day, see how the environment is, see how the fans interact with the players.”"
Hood also speculated on when he would make an official decision on his recruitment and had this to say:
"“Definitely (looking for) somewhere that my family can see me be successful, definitely somewhere I see myself being successful at. Definitely somewhere I can see myself being a first-round draft pick. And that’s really the most important thing so I can be successful in the long run, too.”"
Auburn football is one of the favorites to land Hood’s immense talent and there is the possibility Hood could contribute immediately for the Tigers next season. Hood is by far the biggest offensive line target for the Tigers and could fill a huge need for this program. Going into this recruiting cycle, Auburn football has only signed 14 offensive line prospects since 2017 compared to over 22 for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
A dominant offensive line has been the key for many of the SEC championship runs we have seen from Auburn football. Bryan Harsin and Will Friend understand this and will be expected to sign multiple offensive linemen in this class to build the future of this group. Stay tuned to the recruitment of Hood, because the Tigers are in a solid position to land the talented offensive tackle.
