This weekend, June 11-13, could turn out to be a huge weekend for the Auburn football program in terms of recruiting. 5-star quarterback Dante Moore has arrived on the Plains, and head coach Bryan Harsin and his staff intend to make an impression on the class of 2023 recruit.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Moore is ranked as the #1 recruit out of the state of Michigan and the #3 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2023. The rising junior already has 24 offers in hand from schools including Oregon, Notre Dame, Florida State, Penn State, and Michigan State.

As a freshman, Moore led his school to an 11-3 season where they finished as the Michigan D-II state runner-up. He completed 152 passes for 2,731 yards and 33 touchdowns during the 2020 season as a sophomore.

Conveniently, Auburn football class of 2022 commit and quarterback himself Holden Geriner will also be on campus today. Geriner has a reputation for pushing recruits to join the Tigers on Twitter, and can only help Harsin and his staff in securing Moore.

The 5-star QB arrives on the Plains after taking a trip to Michigan State, for whom Moore is a top target. Although he has areas to improve upon as a young player, Moore’s scouting report describes him as an extremely efficient QB:

"“Displays a live arm from inside the pocket with the ability to drive the football downfield with relative ease,” National Writer Charles Power wrote in August 2020. “Also shows strong velocity in the short an intermediate areas of the field. Has a relatively quick throwing motion and uses his footwork to evade oncoming rushers. Has some experience playing both under center and out of the shotgun. Will need to continue progressing from a physical and mechanical standpoint but the pure arm talent coupled with the ability to play efficiently at such an early stage has him positioned among the top quarterbacks nationally heading into his sophomore season.”"

Though we should not expect any sort of official commitment from the 5-star QB anytime soon, he’s an important recruit to keep an eye on, especially in terms of building Auburn football’s offense to suit Bryan Harsin and to thrive in the future.
