Auburn football: Camden Brown calls AU ‘best school’ recruiting him
Auburn football fans have been subjected to publications prognosticating pitfalls this upcoming season, with some publications going as far as saying the team could go 6-6 in 2021.
If the Tigers do go 6-6, the upcoming season would realistically have to include losses to a team like Ole Miss, who are getting considerable preseason buzz due to the play of potential 2022 NFL QB Matt Corral.
It could also include a loss to South Carolina…for the second season in a row. Being that the Gamecocks failed to crack the top 75 in recruiting and largely faltered outside of their upset victory over Auburn football at Williams-Brice Stadium, that seems as likely as Alabama State making the trip up north on I-85 and picking up an upset at JHS week 2.
Before Auburn takes the field against the two teams, a major moral victory on the recruiting trail was achieved when Auburn camp MVP Camden Brown–who received an AU offer in Mid-May before he made the 620-mile trek from Fort Lauderdale this past week–said that the program was the “best school” that’s showing him “the most love”.
Even better, he enjoyed the coaches he’d be spending his time with as well:
"“(Auburn’s) the best school that’s been showing the most love,” Brown said.Brown, who is a class of 2022 receiver, received an offer from Auburn in mid-May. A month later, he had the chance to see the coaches and the campus in person, and he walked away impressed.“Better than I thought it would be,” Brown said. Not only did Brown learn a lot from the trip, but he also got to start building relationships with the coaches. He said he got to spend time with head coach Bryan Harsin, defensive coordinator Derek Mason and wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams. He described them as “cool dudes.”"
Being that Ole Miss and South Carolina were part of the conglomerate looking to reel in the 3-star WR from the Sunshine State, it’s clear that Auburn football still has the cache of a college football pillar.
Wins on the field during the inaugural season on the field for Bryan Harsin and co. will only help strengthen the class of 2022. Even still, the history and human experience of the Plains will always beat out Oxford and Columbia in most recruits’ eyes.
