Bruce Pearl has turned Auburn basketball into a realistic option for the top high school prospects, which was not the case over most of the past decade. In the last two recruiting classes, Pearl has landed a recruit that set the record for the highest-rated recruit in Auburn basketball history.

According to Stockrisers and 247Sports, Bruce Pearl has been in contact with Kwame Evans Jr. and he has officially received an Auburn offer. Auburn basketball joins some of the best programs in the country in the pursuit of Evans, who will be one of the most highly pursued recruits in the 2023 class.

Kwame Evans Jr. is a 5-star prospect out of Baltimore, MD, and ranks as the #5 player and #1 small forward in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Evans just recently transferred from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and will enroll this season at Montverde Academy in Florida. This past season, Evans earned a starting spot as a freshman and averaged 9.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and two blocks per game over the shortened season.

If Auburn basketball landed Evans; he would rank #2 all-time in Auburn basketball history for the highest-rated signee behind Jabari Smith. Small forward will be a need for the Tigers moving forward because Allen Flanigan has flirted with the NBA Draft already and should move to the next level after this season. Devan Cambridge may stick around but either way, he’ll be coming down to the end of his career as these 2023 prospects start getting to campus.

Bruce Pearl has consistently shown he can recruit the best prospects in the country since he became the head coach for Auburn. Pearl has landed the only 5-star recruits in Auburn basketball history and has landed eight of the top-10 recruits in Auburn basketball history. NCAA tournaments, 5-stars, and SEC championships have become an expectation in Auburn and that is due to Bruce Pearl being one of the best recruiters and coaches in the country.
