Auburn Football: 2024 QB prospect receives 1st SEC offer from AU
Auburn football hosted one of the best young quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting cycle Monday and have officially offered Kamari McClellan. This marks the first SEC offer for the young quarterback and now Auburn joins Florida State and Georgia Tech as the first three schools to offer McClellan as he enters his sophomore year of high school. McClellan announced his offer on Twitter yesterday afternoon:
After receiving his offer; McClellan caught up with Auburn Undercover’s Jason Caldwell to discuss his thoughts on the offer:
"“It was amazing. I got my first SEC offer. I thought it was going to be coming, but I wasn’t sure. I just really like the coaches and facility.”"
McClellan was asked about his stadium tour and about new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo:
"“We did the individual session after the camp. We went to take pictures and Coach Bobo gave me the offer then. I just said thank you coach, thank you for the opportunity.”“It was good. I learned some things after getting coached by him. He told me I had a nice ball and my footwork was good. He just told me that I was talented.”"
The 2024 player rankings are not released yet, but McClellan is set to be one of the most highly touted QB prospects in the 2024 class. His accolades include being the 2018 MVP at The Show, TB12 Peak Performance MVP for the Atlanta camp, FBU Middle School MVP for the Atlanta area in 2018, and the Offense/Defense MVP in 2018 for Atlanta.
Younger and younger prospects are receiving college football offers and Auburn football has set itself up in a nice position to land one of the top QBs of the 2024 class. McClellan is visiting Alabama on June 21st, so Auburn may not be his last SEC offer.
Bo Nix and TJ Finley may be the quarterbacks for the Tigers right now, but their time will come to an end and Bryan Harsin is already on the prowl for the next great Auburn football quarterback. Mike Bobo and Harsin may have found their guy for the future in McClellan, but this recruitment will be one to monitor in the coming years.
