Auburn football freshman set to thrive #2: Jarquez Hunter, RB

Heading into the season, the running back conversation centered around the potential Heisman candidacy of Tank Bigsby. Shaun Shivers is set to once again be the backup, and he reinforced that notion during a sturdy performance during A-Day as both a rusher and returner.

But recently, the hype has been building about the diamond in the rough of the Tigers backfield, Jarquez Hunter, due to the recently verified Jboy giving him a major endorsement:

Hunter has great burst and is hard to get a hold of. The lack of hype stems from the recruiting war for his services mainly boiling down to the Iowa and Auburn football programs, but Hunter has the chance to dash that when he provides reprieve for Bigsby and Shivers this upcoming year.

That could be at the end of games in garbage time, or by halftime of the Akron, Alabama State, and Georgia State battles.

Whenever it is–and especially if he ends up deployed as an in-case-of-injury-emergency back–expect Hunter to give Tiger fans hope for the future of the backfield should Bigsby depart for the NFL before utilizing his full NCAA eligibility.
