Auburn football currently has four commitments for the 2021 class and could add more very soon if the experts are right. The Tigers are also in contention for some highly touted 2022 prospects and it looks like the Tigers can add one more to the list of potential commits.

Jayden Gibson announced his Top-8 schools on his Twitter and the Tigers look to be squarely in the race for the 4-star wide receiver out of Winter Garden, FL.

Gibson is a 4-star prospect out of Florida and ranks as the #226 overall prospect and #36 wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class. Last season, Gibson had 32 catches for 744 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns for West Orange High School. Scouts are enamored with his size at 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, which is the perfect size to be an immediate contributor anywhere in the country.

Andrew Ivins for 247Sports evaluated Gibson had this to say about the talented wide receiver:

"“Tall and skinny. Over 6-foot-4 making him one of the bigger wide receivers in the 2022 cycle. A true big-play threat that’s going to often times get second and third looks from quarterbacks because of his size and catch radius. Relatively coordinated athlete for someone with longer limbs. Has greatly improved how he releases at the line of scrimmage over the past 12 months. Tends to play a bit high at times, but understands how to attack and stack cornerbacks. Tracks the ball better than most once it’s in the air and is competitive at the catch point. Ran a ton of vertical routes as a junior, which didn’t provide many catch-and-run opportunities. Was featured, however, as a return man on special teams and has also shown on the 7-on-7 circuit that he can weave his way through traffic while trying to work his way up the field. Will need to add functional strength as that will not only help him beat a press at the next level, but also block college-sized defenders. Must also get better at sinking his hips. Natural physical traits make him one of the more intriguing wideouts to come out of the Sunshine State in recent memory. Has progressed greatly in a short amount of time, but far from a finish product. Has the chance to develop into a multi-year contributor at Power 5 level and potentially a WR1 type if he keeps the right mindset and is able to add some mass to his lanky frame.”"

Gibson visited the Plains on June 27th and had a productive trip. Cornelius Williams and Mike Bobo will be the biggest factors in his recruitment, in which the Tigers must fight off some of the best teams in the country. Florida and Miami appear to be the favorites in this recruitment, but the fight is far from over and Auburn football should play a large factor.

The commitment number may only be at #4 right now, but the Tigers have put themselves in play for multiple highly touted players across the country in the 2022 class. Stay tuned to this recruitment, because Gibson could be one of the best wide receivers the Tigers have landed in multiple cycles.
