Misinformation is spread all the time on Twitter, but today Auburn football fans had to set the record straight on a quote attributed to head coach Bryan Harsin. The Barstool Bama account thought they were really sticking it to Tiger fans with the fake statement.

Just this morning, Barstool Bama’s official Twitter account tweeted the quote allegedly expressing Coach Harsin’s opinion on the playoff expansion as locker room inspiration and the replies were flooded with Auburn fans, laughing over the ridiculousness of it.

There’s clearly a trend of nervousness coming from the Tide about the future of the in-state rivalry. Harsin brings updates and change to the Plains, yet fellow FanSided site Bama Hammer claims that the Tigers will soon slide into a losing streak in the Iron Bowl, and now the only thing keeping them going is posting fake Bryan Harsin quotes:

While Bryan Harsin has spoken about the college football playoff expansion, it wasn’t to talk about Alabama football. Harsin has come out in support of the playoff expansion, per Saturdays Down South, with the caveat that the season must be arranged in a way so that the student-athletes are provided a break at the end of the season:

"“That’s been a topic of conversation for a while now, and I would support that,” Harsin answered during a recent appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show. “I think ultimately, it’ll head that direction. And I’ve said this before; I’ve always felt like any team that has won all their games should have a chance to play for at all.”"

The fake quote didn’t trick Auburn football fans for a second, and everyone was quick to point out the absurdity of it and the fact that Auburn still lives rent-free in the heads of the so-called National Champions:

Bryan Harsin will most definitely have to prove himself in the SEC, but we’ll have to wait until November to see him across the field from Nick Saban. Until then, may you recognize every fake quote from the Barstool Bama account.
