Auburn football rumors: Ja’Kobi Albert trending towards Plains
Auburn football’s 2022 recruiting haul has underwhelmed some but could be in for a major turnaround in July.
Big Cat Weekend’s return is a pivotal piece of the recruiting pitch for AU, and Bryan Harsin will now be able to leverage the lure of the Plains–especially so as he experiences it all for the first time himself– to improve the Tigers’ standing in the SEC.
With Alabama landing 4-star OL recruit Tyler Booker yesterday, it’ll be important for Auburn football to respond with a recruiting win of their own. It luckily appears as though there will be one soon, in the form of 4-star ATH Ja’Kobi Albert.
Jake “Jboy” Crain foresees Albert committing to Harsin and co. with 85% confidence:
Albert is adept on both ends of the ball, with both WR coach Cornelius Williams and defensive coordinator Derek Mason on the recruiting trail. The in-state product–who plays under two-and-a-half hours away at Fairfield Preparatory School–could be a special teams threat due to his positional ambiguity.
As GBMWolverine’s Chris Peterson points out, Michigan was, but no longer is, in the running for Albert as well:
"…Ja’Kobi Albert, another target that emerged recently and actually received a crystal ball projection to the Wolverines, is now picking up a couple of predictions to Auburn…Albert is a high-ranking three-star recruit at 366th overall and is out of Fairfield, Alabama. He took an official visit to Ann Arbor and was projected to U-M not long after, but more predictions didn’t follow and now the Tigers are trending."
With the Wolverines landing Micah Pollard, Auburn football would be getting UM right back with keeping Albert in the Yellowhammer State.
