Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin took to Twitter a day early this week to bring us the newly minted Iron Men of the Week. Joining the ranks of a variety of Tigers across all positions, Anders Carlson and Desmond Tisdol earned the honors this week.

Since nearly the beginning of Bryan Harsin’s time on the Plains, the Iron Men of the Week have been named to recognize one offensive player and one defensive player for their hard work during the offseason, whether that be spring practices, workouts, etc. The coaching staff has also made sure that every week it truly is the hardest working player that is selected by choosing some players, like Bo Nix, to receive the honors multiple times.

This week, the offensive Iron Man is placekicker Anders Carlson. Heading into his fourth year as the starting kicker for the Tigers, Carlson has racked up many awards and achievements during his time on the Plains. Nevertheless, he made it clear ahead of the 2021 season he intends to prove himself to the Auburn family once again.

Over three seasons with Auburn football, Carlson has made 53 of 72 attempted field goals, the longest soaring 53 yards through the uprights. Additionally, he scored 116 PATs, totaling 275 points scored over 37 games.

Rising sophomore linebacker Desmond Tisdol is the defensive Iron Man of the Week and will be heading into his second season with the Tigers. Tisdol played five games in 2020 as a true freshman and totaled two tackles, both at home versus LSU.

Tisdol was unable to participate in Auburn’s spring A-Day game due to injury, per Auburn Wire, and he will most likely see the field in a backup role to the likes of Owen Pappoe and Zakoby McClain but could emerge as a rising star in the coming seasons.
