Auburn football fans don’t appreciate when reporters get too high and mighty in their coverage of their beloved Tigers.

It’s a simple job: cover the games, practices, media days, and everything in between. Some see their job descriptions as including forcing football coaches to make public health announcements to their team.

Count Joseph Goodman of AL.com in the latter category.

Yes, teams are at a competitive advantage when games aren’t canceled due to a flood of positive COVID-19 cases. For those with no adverse health risks or those that are in regular contact with vulnerable peoples, taking the shot is a no-brainer.

But Goodman’s disagreement with Harsin’s stance–one centered around personal responsibility–bled into his assessment of the first-year Auburn football HC’s first SEC Media Day:

"A butter sandwich is more interesting than Bryan Harsin, and probably healthier, too.Could be wrong about this, and hopefully I am wrong about this, but it’s probably not the greatest sign of things to come from Auburn’s new football coach that the most memorable thing he said on Thursday at his first SEC Media Days was that vaccines are a personal choice, and he’s not encouraging anyone to get one."

Tiger fans sniffed out Goodman’s biased (and full of bologna) hit-piece, which literally contained paragraphs of him begging Alabama Governor Kay Ivey to have a sit-down with Harsin about changing his message.

Here are some of the most biting retorts from the Auburn family:

We don’t want canceled games. Or severe illness for anyone in the state of Alabama.

But it’ll be a cold day in hell before we ever want to see another article (and subsequent holier-than-thou tweets) with as much nauseating hubris as Goodman’s again.
