Big Ten school #1 that makes more sense joining Auburn football in the SEC than UM/OSU: Nebraska

Truthfully, the state of Nebraska is pretty western in the grand scheme of the United States and probably makes more sense in the Big 12 than either the Big Ten or the SEC. They’re right by the two Kansas teams (Big 12 members) and are the next state over from Pac-12 program Colorado and its state namesake.

But what makes them sensible as an addition in this arrangement is their proximity to the four most recent SEC additions. Missouri isn’t too far from Lincoln, while Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are all relatively a straight shot south. They’d have a logical divisional/’pod’ landing spot among those four programs.

In all honesty, it is still a stretch to say that Nebraska belongs in the conference if you’re basing it off of proximity to all of its other members. The Plains is a ways away from the Star City.

But we’re already stretching so many geographical boundaries with all of these talks and losing Nebraska doesn’t do nearly as much damage to the Big Ten as the potential losses of the Buckeyes and Wolverines.

Hence, the Cornhuskers catering to the SEC just a tad more than those two Big Ten pillar programs.
