#2 best SEC rivalry from OU/UT arrivals: Texas vs. Auburn football

Fun fact: Texas is the #1 highest grossing football program in the entire country. That’s right, even without the SEC branding quite yet–and being part of the worst-marketed Power Five conference in the country–the Longhorns brand is tops in the sport.

Well, they have no idea what’s coming in the southeast. ESPN has an infatuation with the SEC (and particularly Alabama) and the move will only benefit the Longhorn Network as well, which now as eyes from rival programs.

When it comes to the biggest cashcows from the conference, it isn’t the Tide that is on top, though. Georgia is the highest revenue producer, but it’s the second biggest producer that would make for the best rivalry with Texas.

That’s right, Auburn football–the supposed little brother in the Yellowhammer State–is a bigger cashcow than Bama. With Georgia in the SEC East, it’s the Tigers who will be more relevant to Texas.

Considering the die-hard nature of both fanbases, a Texas/Auburn football rivalry would be a  massive cultural event for both cities…though particularly on the Plains.
