#1 best SEC rivalry from OU/UT arrivals: Oklahoma vs. Alabama football

The moment the SEC additions of the Sooners and Longhorns were speculated on, this was the big money matchup most around the country probably had in mind. Like Alabama, Oklahoma has been dominating their division for the better part of the past decade rocking crimson and white while doing so.

These two teams have a built-in history, and it’s one Alabama would probably like to rewrite. As the Oklahoman’s Nate Chute points out, OU has the lead at the moment:

"Even thought the Crimson Tide shutout the Sooners in their first ever game in 1963, Oklahoma boast a winning record in the series. Out of the six games played, four have been bowl games. The two teams last played in the Capital One Orange Bowl in in 2018, a game Alabama won. The Sooners last won in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2014, the only bowl game win the team has against Alabama. Overall record vs. Crimson Tide: 3-2-1"

Things could change quickly for the Sooners, though, after having to face programs like LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn football instead of the likes of Kansas, Texas Tech, and Kansas State.

Being in the SEC could wear OU down by the time a matchup with Alabama comes around. For now, though, this is an even battle on a historical scale and one the SEC will benefit from ten-fold.
