With nine commits currently on the roster for Auburn football’s recruiting class of 2022, the momentum is picking up for Bryan Harsin and the rest of his first-year coaching staff. After locking down class of 2022 prospects Holden Geriner and Damari Alston, the Tigers gained student-athlete-recruiters that can only boost the class.

Omari Kelly, 4-star wide receiver out of Trussville, AL, is the most recent Tigers target to name an upcoming decision date. The #12 recruit out of the state of Alabama will announce his college destination on August 19 and is currently trending towards Auburn football.

Auburn Undercover reports that Alabama, Auburn, and UCF are the top contenders for the 4-star. According to his 247Sports profile, Kelly unofficially visited Alabama, attended Big Cat Weekend at Auburn, and visited UCF officially.

With an official commitment day announced, Kelly now knows which program he will choose. As far as SEC insider Jake Crain of the JBoy Show is concerned, Kelly is bound to be an Auburn Tiger, and a lot of people agree:

August 19 could turn into a pretty big day for Auburn football if things go the right way. Not only will Omari Kelly commit that day, but 4-star safety Tre Donaldson will make a decision as well. Donaldson holds basketball and football offers from multiple schools, including Auburn.

During his 2020 season, Kelly caught 39 passes for 710 yards and seven touchdowns, per Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Undercover. Should Kelly choose Auburn football, he would join wide receivers Jay Fair and Kobi Albert on the class of 2022 roster.

Stay tuned for more recruiting news and keep an eye on Omari Kelly as August 19 gets closer and closer.
