Auburn football: 3 potential trap games on the 2021 schedule
Potential Auburn football trap game #3: Mississippi State
Given the yoyo nature of the Mississippi State football program over the years and current two-year downturn that doesn’t seem all too likely to turn around in 2021, it’s understandable if Tiger fans look at the placement of their home game against the Bulldogs between trips to Kyle Field and Williams-Brice Stadium and not think much of it.
That’d be a mistake, though.
Just because Hail State is expected to be Fail State this coming Fall, doesn’t mean Auburn football could sit out their Week 11 matchup against the expected conference cellar-dweller.
Mississippi State is projected to win in non-conference matchups against the likes of NC State and Memphis and is even considered a pick-em against LSU at home. Sure, they are given a little better than a 30% chance to beat the Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium, but anything can happen in the SEC West.
Texas A&M more than likely will have just given the Tigers one of the toughest tests of the season, and the Tigers are obviously not trying to leave Columbia, South Carolina as losers for the second straight year.
Overlooking Mississippi State is a natural reaction. Hopefully, Bryan Harsin’s preaching for discipline pays off and Auburn football takes care of business on November 13th.
