Auburn football: Nine seniors make Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist
Last year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl was played under strange circumstances due to COVID-19, and Auburn football had just one representative at the event. KJ Britt, former Tigers linebacker, showed out in Mobile, but we can expect to see more Tigers at the Senior Bowl this year.
Nine Auburn football players were named to the watchlist, five offensive players and four defensive players:
"On offense, linemen Brodarious Hamm, Tashawn Manning and Nick Brahms are joined by running back Shaun Shivers and receiver Demetris Robertson. On defense, linebacker Zakoby McClain and defensive backs Roger McCreary, Dreshun Miller and Smoke Monday form Auburn’s contingent."
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is considered to be the first step in the NFL Draft process and is a chance for seniors to showcase themselves and raise their draft stock with NFL coaches prior to the draft. Auburn football has had a Senior Bowl representative in every game since 1967.
Though the Tigers’ offensive line is still questionable heading into the season, they have experience on their side and we’re hopeful that Hamm, Manning, and Brahms will prove to everyone why they’ve been named to the Senior Bowl Watchlist.
As a conference, the SEC dominated the watchlist with all 14 schools represented. Georgia had the most players make the list (11), and Vanderbilt boasted the least with only one player. Auburn and LSU tied for second place with nine players, and eight players made the list from Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas A&M.
Everyone is underestimating Bryan Harsin’s first-year Auburn football team, but the Tigers may have all the necessary ingredients to surprise the doubters in 2021. The seniors on the watchlist are extra important, as they all have great talent but also plenty of experience in the SEC and Jordan-Hare.
