Justin Hokanson tabs Demetris Robertson next UGA-AU success story

Eight years ago, Nick Marshall made the jump to the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry most recent National Champion, Auburn, and the rest was history. Could Demetris Robertson be the next great defect from Georgia to do great things on the Plains?

The jury is out, especially considering Robertson’s late camp arrival had due to academic issues at UGA.

But it sounds like the right kind of people believe it could happen.

That includes Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson, who believes Demetris Robertson could meet the lofty demands following him from Athens to Auburn:

Coming to Bryan Harsin’s first Tigers roster following a five-year career that started in Berkley, California, with the Golden Bears and spanned three years with the Bulldogs, Demetris Robertson has a chance to break out as the team’s WR1. While Elijah Canion has rapport with QB Bo Nix, Robertson has been aiming to achieve familiarity and comfort quickly with the likely starting signal caller since touching down on campus.

Head coach Bryan Harsin has definitely noticed, and had positive words for the former 5-star recruit:

"“I thought it might have taken him a little more time to pick things up, but he has excelled in the last few days especially,” the coach said. “He has shown up on a few of our practice tapes and has pulled some things out. On some highlights from practice he has been on there a couple of times. He did some good things tonight as well.”"

October 9th will be a date circled on Demetris Robertson’s calendar considering the smear campaign the Georgia media rolled out once the Savannah product announced his decision to leave UGA for AU.

Perhaps by then Robertson will have shown that he could in fact be the next Georgia to Auburn transfer success story.
