Fly War Eagle and the college football world at large have been injected with new life since Texas and Oklahoma joined Auburn football in the SEC.

While the partnership won’t begin until 2025, the fanbases from Norman and Austin have already introduced themselves to the existing SEC followings. Speculation on what new rivalries will form, whether or not there will be a pod format moving forward, and even what the next steps from the other conferences will look like have already begun.

Today, long-time UNC head coach and former Texas HC Mack Brown chimed in, saying there will most certainly be more super conferences in the future.

Per Paul Finebaum’s verified Twitter:

Needless to say, not everyone was on board for the direction college football could potentially going in, with one particularly rabid Texas State fan making his case for why that would be bad for the sport:

Regardless, change in college football is inevitable, and it has already begun in earnest with the SEC forming a true Super Conference with the addition of College Football Playoff mainstay Oklahoma, and the highest-grossing program in the country, Texas football.

For Auburn football fans, it’s a good thing, with schools like Clemson and FSU rumored to be the next in line to jump.

It’s not a good thing for fans of Group of Five schools like Texas State, who are sure to get left behind once the sport undergoes its next facelift.
