It’s been a good day for Auburn football, as two 4-star recruits committed to the program after a summer of watching many Class of 2022 prospects take their talents elsewhere.

First, dual-sport athlete Tre Donaldson declared his decision in the early afternoon, putting on an orange ‘AU’ hat during 247Sports’ live announcement show.

Then in the late afternoon, just in time for those getting off from work, Omari Kelly announced his own commitment to Auburn football.

The 4-star’s addition had many of his new fellow Class of 2022 Tigers excited about what the Hewitt-Trussville can do in orange and blue:

Of course, Damari Alston played the cool man role because he knew all along this was going to be the scene for Auburn football today, accurately predicting there would be a big day on the Plains in a tweet yesterday.

Holden Geriner, a 4-star pro-style QB from Savannah, has been vocal for the better part of the last six months about all of the happenings surrounding the Class of 2022.

With the Kelly commitment, the 2022 WR room expands. Jay Fair, a 3-star receiver out of Texas, committed earlier this summer.

Going into the 2021 season, the biggest question mark on the roster besides the perpetually undermanned offensive line wil be who will rise to the occasion for Bo Nix (or JT Finley) in the passing game. With the losses of Nix’s top targets Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz, and Eli Stove to the NFL Draft, former 5-star Georgia WR Demetris Robertson, and underclassmen Elijah Canion, Ze’Vian Capers, Ja’Varrius Johnson, and Kobe Hudson all have a chance to emerge as the new WR1.

In a year’s time, though, it could be Kelly’s time.
