I don’t even know if the craziest thing about Ryan Leaf’s SEC predictions for 2021 is predicting a 6-6 record for Auburn football.

This coming season promises to be as chaotically affected by COVID-19 as the last it seems, even with vaccines readily available. The key difference between this year and last, though, is the possibility of forfeited games by teams not having the minimum number of players needed to suit up.

The Tigers could well have bad luck that leads to canceled games against “gimme” game opponents. Forfeited games against Akron and Alabama State don’t even seem far-fetched anymore after the recent positive COVID-19 cases that have hit Bryan Harsin and the program.

Check out Leaf’s predictions, though…and tell me something isn’t off at the top of the standings:

Texas A&M? Undefeated? Ole Miss at 10-2?

Okay then…

Alabama is the perenially trendy SEC West pick, but Leaf went off the grid with his prediciton of TAMU reigning supreme while Matt Corral leads Ole Miss to the same record as the Tide.

He further went off the grid in projecting Arkansas in front of Auburn football. The Hogs have a potential stud under center with KJ Jefferson, but would need to take a pretty massive step forward defensively. In 2020, they were one of 22 teams to cede 450+ yards per game.

Arkansas will be the host when they take on the Tigers this season, and last year’s game ended with a smidgeon of controversy late in the fourth quarter. Auburn football won by a narrow margin and may have gotten a few calls go their way.

Leaf is like The Score in believing a .500 record is in the cards for Auburn football.

In 13 days, the predictions will end, and the games will begin.
