Ever since former LSU QB TJ Finley announced his intentions to join the Auburn football program this past May, the biggest storyline on the Plains heading into the 2021 season has been the competition for the role of starting signal-caller.
With the looming threat of an underwhelming legacy QB, after a serious sophomore slump, having issues getting acclimated to new offensive schemes–which by all accounts, might be happening as we speak this offseason–some felt Nix’s struggles up to this point could have Finley in the driver’s seat to steal the QB1 role.
Well, we might be getting ahead of ourselves with that kind of thinking.
Jordan D. Hill of the Opelika-Auburn News shared Bryan Harsin’s latest update on the situation, basically confirming Nix is safe under center…for now at least:
Some were not thrilled to hear that…
While others are, since this is the year:
No matter where you fall on the Nix-Finley debate, you might have a level of worry about whether or not either guy is ready to lead the team to an SEC Championship in 2021.
Neither has had an exceptional camp, and Nix has even been interception-prone during inter-squad scrimmages.
That said, Fly War Eagle advises you to take a deep breath, and thank the heavens that a full Jordan-Hare Stadium will get to band together in unfettered excitement whoever is under for Auburn football, or lean on each other for emotional support should expectations not be met.
