Auburn football: Top teams to beat for Jacob Hood on commitment day
Auburn football’s first-year head coach Bryan Harsin is working hard on the recruiting end of things to build up the Tigers’ offensive line. The two-deep for the 2021 offensive line was just recently announced, but there are going to be major holes to fill in the coming seasons.
Enter Auburn football offensive tackle target Jacob Hood. The Nashville native has been a major target for the Tigers and had a fantastic official visit to the Plains over the summer. Now, he is ready to announce where he will continue his football career.
Along with Auburn, Hood will decide between six other schools on Monday, August 30, at noon: LSU, Miami, Florida, Ole Miss, Eastern Kentucky, and Georgia.
As it was back in the summer, Auburn football’s top competition for the 3-star offensive tackle comes from Georgia and Miami. Hood has officially visited all three schools but told Auburn Undercover in June that Georgia and Miami were still at the top of his list. However, prior to setting his decision date, he mentioned he would be interested in returning to the Plains in the fall for an unofficial visit.
"“Auburn’s always been in my top list, and I say this definitely pushes them to the top three of my top list,” Hood said.” I’m definitely going to come back, take an unofficial during the season and see how they play on game day, see how the environment is, see how the fans interact with the players.”"
In terms of recruiting classes, Georgia is far and away the best of Hood’s three major contenders. Ranked #2 in the SEC and #6 in the nation, UGA has 15 commits, and only one of them is listed as an offensive lineman. Miami is ranked #42 in the nation and #7 in the ACC with only nine commits, one of which is an OL.
The 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball currently predicts UGA as Hood’s college destination, but he could certainly surprise everyone on Monday.
