Reason #2 to be over the moon for Auburn football opening kickoff: The reigniting of the QB debate

Bryan Harsin didn’t rock the boat ahead of the Tigers’ 2021 debut, naming Bo Nix the starter over TJ Finley. While reports out of camp weren’t particularly encouraging for either player, Harsin did note the pairs’ improvement in picking up plays, particularly Nix’s, as preseason camp progressed.

The WR room has been lauded by Harsin in recent days, meaning the guys throwing the ball must be doing something right. It takes two to tango after all.

What’s going to be particularly fun on Twitter–as Tiger fans find the reactions of other AU fans more fun than the blowout on their screens in the second half (or quarter)–is the overreactions to each Nix and Finley play against the porous Zips defense.

While Nix and Finley had their struggles against the SEC, in a COVID-19 affected conference-only season, they should be able to get what they want against Akron on Saturday night.

And it should have the talking heads of Twitter spewing hot takes based on every pitch and catch.

You best believe “This is the year” will be a trending topic on the Plains…
