Former Auburn football head coach Gus Malzahn let the world know that he wasn’t interested in the USC head coaching gig that was recently vacated in the wake of Clay Helton’s dismissal from the program.
Twitter’s reaction was essentially different variations of “who’s asking you anyway?”
The new UCF HC led the Knights to the season’s most spectacular comeback win during their opening kickoff two weeks ago to the day, but he has a long way to go before (other) Power Five programs are going to want to poach him from Orlando.
And fans made sure to let the world know that in classic Twitter snarky fashion:
Did USC ever say they were interested in him?!? https://t.co/WqWdRYEASq pic.twitter.com/shb0pyBLsI

I'm pretty sure he wasn't even on their list. Who does he think he is?

Malzahn is likely sticking with UCF for the long-haul after inking a five-year, $11.5 million agreement this past February. He has said that his plan is to win championships in O-Town and the Knights are a few years away from being a Power Five program themselves after officially joining the Big 12 alongside BYU, Houston, and Cincinnati.
It’d be a radical shift–and a serious blow to the UCF brand–if Malzahn were make his way west to Los Angeles to coach the Trojans. As a Texas man who rose through the coaching ranks in Arkansas at various schools and Alabama (with Auburn football), his whole way of life would be turned on its head.
Luckily, he’s not interested…and it’s questionable whether USC was regardless.
