Auburn football LB Zakoby McClain is feeling the love from Tiger fans after he was ejected on an officiating misfire in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s 28-20 loss to Penn State.
After preventing Nittany Lions WR Parker Washington from finding the end zone with a bone-rattling tackle in the fourth quarter, McClain was disqualified from the eventual loss.
That will cost him the first half of AU’s next contest at Penn State as well.
The Auburn family isn’t giving McClain lip after the ejection, though, instead showing the trademark fan support that makes the Plains the best place in the country to play college football:
Yes they do but don't apologize for your 100% correct football play! #WDEhttps://t.co/RA3JnLzgn1

You did all you could do. I get the intent, but, the rule is wrong. And, they won’t change it. Because safety… Keep grinding. #WDE

Still waiting on the @SECOfficiating apology to you. @SEC at least let him play the full game next week

I'm not an expert by any means, but you couldn't let him score! You put your shoulder down and didn't lead with your helmet. What else did they expect you to do? Thanks for giving it your all! War Eagle Always!

McClain had two tackles, with one of them being unassisted. Coming into this season, McClain vowed to make sure his greatness was recognized this season.
Saturday was disappointing for McClain and Auburn football fans alike, but 0% of the blame rests on the shoulders of McClain.
Perhaps his second half comeback could boost AU next week in a potential trap game against Georgia State.
