Auburn football legend Cam Newton will always have his name mentioned on the Plains. His face is everywhere in East Central Alabama.
But the NFL doesn’t seem able to let him fade into the background either.
Twitter mentioned the 2015 NFL MVP’s name several times as Week 2 of the season saw quarterbacks go down/underperform all over the league.
Here are just a few Newton tweets on what has been an eventful NFL Sunday:

Former NFL S Will Blackmon namedropped the Miami Dolphins as a team that can make sense in the wake of former Alabama signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa’s injured ribs:
Miami makes the most sense. https://t.co/NTxGlRJlcc

Anthony Duckett of FanSided’s NBA Division sees the Houston Texans as the team that needs to call Cam up pronto:
If Tyrod is going to be out for a significant amount of time, the Texans need to call Cam Newton tbh

Either way, Newton’s professional journey isn’t done. While New England couldn’t afford having the 2010 Heisman winner as a backup to 2020 Heisman runner-up Mac Jones, other teams can use his proven leadership as a stop-gap solution.
Newton not only engineered a National Championship for Auburn football during his collegiate career, but he also led the Carolina Panthers to the 2016 Super Bowl, a game they lost to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
It’s early enough for a team to gamble on Newton changing the narrative for their season. Don’t leave the legend on the free agent scrap heal, NFL.
