Auburn football couldn’t take care of business as a road underdog in Penn State’s famous White Out game this past Saturday, but they stand to get back to their winning ways this weekend.

Georgia State of the Sunbelt will be trekking south on I85 for the Tigers’ third home game of the year two weeks after Alabama State made the inverse trip two Saturdays ago.

Panthers coach Shawn Elliot has been far from quiet in the lead up to the 3pm matinee, claiming Georgia State has barely prepared and aren’t worried about the Tigers and even knocking the pre-game Eagle flight.

Mr. Elliot, with all due respect, those words are going to go down like a plate of shrimp and grits from Live Oaks for you after 60 minutes of playing Bryan Harsin’s men.

Despite the predicted beatdown–the spread is at -27 for Auburn football at the moment–there has already been a moral victory for Panther fans that decide to cheer on their team on the Plains tomorrow in a lopsided loss.

247Sports’ Nathan King called Georgia State the best non-Power Five team that AU will play this season:

"“Georgia State is the best non-Power Five 5 team Auburn will face this season, and it’s not particularly close. As such, Shawn Elliott’s club should be more competitive than Akron or Alabama State, but this is still a game where Auburn’s fearsome run defense and powerful rushing attack should call the shots and lead to a sizable margin of victory.”"

Against Army and UNC, GSU was lost on defense and overwhelmed offensively. The script was flipped in a strong win last week over Charlotte that saw the Panther backfield collect 282 rushing yards.

That said, Auburn football should flip the script once more and lay a beatdown on a team whose coach may have bitten off a whole lot more than he can chew.
