Apparently, Auburn football isn’t the team perceived to be snubbed in the college football AP Top 25 at the moment.

Instead, it’s a team from the Conference USA representing the Alamo City: UTSA.

The Roadrunners are certainly off to the races early in 2021, amassing a perfect 6-0 record through the first half of the season.

Whether it was UTSA fans or just fans of the sport in general, support for the Group of Five early-season powerhouse was on display when Fox Sports asked which team just outside the top 25 deserves to be ranked the most:

Out of all the teams in the AP Top 25 that could slip soon, look no further than NC State, who is on the road at Boston College and Miami the next two weeks in ACC play. Texas A&M and Florida could be on upset alert too at Mizzou and LSU (who is admittedly banged up and down bad), respectively.

A loss for Arkansas against Auburn football can end the Hogs’ goodwill and AP voter love in 2021, but the Tigers would be more worthy of a ranking in that case than UTSA, who hosts an uneven Rice at home this Saturday evening.

While it’s hard to root against an unheralded program like UTSA, their strongest wins this season are against the 2-5 Illinois Fighting Illini and the 3-3 Memphis Tigers.

That pales in comparison to beating LSU in Death Valley and losing by a touchdown to a top 10 team in their famed White Out game.

Just saying.
