Ahead of Saturday’s 11 am (central) kickoff between the Arkansas and Auburn football programs at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the Hogs’ head coach was complimentary of the Tigers’ starting signal caller.
Sam Pittman called Bo Nix a ‘superstar’ while praising Auburn’s performance as a team so far in 2021:
Needless to say, after serious struggles from the wide receivers cost AU a shot at competing against the Georgia Bulldogs this past Saturday, Pittman’s take was refreshing to say the least.
Nix has often been an easy scapegoat for many fans this season. His benching in Week 4 against Georgia State led to TJ Finley becoming the hero in the final minute and gave detractors the ammunition needed to call for the Auburn football legacy gunslinger’s head whenever the offense doesn’t run smoothly.
Yet the very next week in Baton Rouge he should have done enough to silence those doubters, delivering unrivaled heroism in Death Valley to give Auburn its first victory against LSU on the road since Tommy Tuberville was coaching in 1999.
Nix has not been perfect this year, or anything close. But he is also the reason they collected their only quality win of the 2021 season. In fact, this past Saturday’s Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry game would have been disastrous if not for his arm considering the clamps that were put down on Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter (46 rushing yards combined) by the Georgia defensive line.
So we love to see Pittman giving him his due ahead of a critical Week 7 SEC West clash.
