Auburn football essential offensive player #1: QB Bo Nix

Let’s start out with the most obvious.

Bo Nix has rewritten the narrative of the 2021 season following a benching Week 4 against Georgia State by being indispensable in games that where the backfield was far less dominant than initially advertised.

Against LSU, Nix was the rushing leader. He had 42 yards in five rushes this past weekend against the Razorbacks in Fayetteville, good for over eight yards per carry.

Coming onto the Plains as a dual-threat QB, Nix is living up to that label by putting the Tigers in a position to compete for an SEC crown with his spectacular throws that are often accompanied by even more spectacular escapes from peril.

Hell, if the Tigers can run the table during the final five games, which includes its two toughest games at home, there could legitimately be a dark horse Heisman candidacy for the AU legacy signal-caller.

Tank Bigsby has not been the best SEC RB as advertised–that would be Kentucky’s Chris Rodriguez Jr. or Mizzou’s Tyler Badie–and Jarquez Hunter is likewise not at the level to be capable of carrying the Tigers offense.

Nix is the one man that can do that.
