Team #4 Auburn football could surpass in Top 25 with Week 9 win: Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish started off the season seen as a shaky contender given their razor-thin wins against Florida State and Toledo.
They slowly started to live up to their reputation as a top program as they pounced on Purdue and whooped Wisconsin in Madison. Then Cincinnati definitively knocked them out of the College Football Playoff conversation indefinitely.
That indefinitely could come to an end if teams in the top 10 start losing and they themselves run the table. But perhaps their biggest test of the season is this weekend against Sam Howell and the UNC Tar Heels. A loss would send them tumbling to the fringes of the AP Top 25.
Team #5 Auburn football could surpass in Top 25 with Week 9 win: Baylor
Baylor has done everything anyone could ask of them this season, including knocking off the then-#14 Iowa State Cyclones and then-#19 BYU Cougars, both at home.
That said, the Texas Longhorns seem due for a breakout game after losing to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in consecutive weeks. If Steve Sarkisian’s team falls to .500 beyond the mid-way point of the season, things would get a bit uncomfortable in Austin.
It could benefit Auburn for that not to be the case and for Baylor to take their second loss of the 2021 season.
